Traditionally this plant has been used as a tea for quieting the nerves, as an antimicrobial, as a topical analgesic (poultice), to reduce respiratory congestion, and to rid the body of lice. It was referred to as a “blood cleanser”.
Also known as Rhododendron spp. from the family Ericaceae. Was previously known as Ledum spp.
It makes a lovely mild tasting tea that is free of caffeine.
As a culinary herb it has been used as a spice for meat dishes and salad dressings (substituting for bay leaf).
It is recommended that this tea be used in moderation.
